Challenges They Face
As mjunction’s cloud environment expanded across multiple AWS accounts and workloads, maintaining consistent operations, governance, and cost efficiency became increasingly challenging. The organization required a structured approach to ensure platform stability, security, and financial visibility while supporting business growth.
- Managing High-Availability Marketplace Workloads on Containerized and Compute Infrastructure: Mjunction operates large-scale digital marketplace platforms requiring continuous availability and performance consistency. With workloads running on Amazon EC2 and Amazon EKS (Kubernetes), supported by Elastic Load Balancing and Amazon EFS storage, maintaining service stability across distributed microservices architecture became increasingly complex. Coordinating traffic management through Route 53 and load balancers while ensuring container orchestration reliability required a structured operational framework to prevent service disruptions during peak transaction volumes.
- Strengthening Multi-Layered Security and Governance Across AWS Accounts: As the environment expanded, enforcing governance and security controls across multiple AWS services became critical. Mjunction required centralized visibility and auditability across AWS CloudTrail, AWS Config, and Amazon CloudWatch logs. Managing encryption using AWS KMS, securing secrets via AWS Secrets Manager, implementing AWS WAF protections, and continuously monitoring threats through AWS GuardDuty and AWS Inspector demanded a cohesive security model to reduce risk exposure while maintaining compliance readiness.
- Improving Data Management, Integration, and Cost Visibility: With services such as AWS Glue, AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), API Gateway, and data transfer workloads actively supporting integrations and marketplace operations, managing data movement and transformation required operational oversight. Additionally, tracking infrastructure usage across compute, storage, networking, and Kubernetes resources became essential for cost optimization. Without structured cost governance using AWS Cost Explorer and monitoring insights, financial predictability could be impacted as workloads scaled.
Solutions We Offered
To address mjunction’s operational, security, and financial management challenges, AppSquadz implemented a structured AWS managed services model focused on platform reliability, governance standardization, and cost optimization. The solution enabled stable operations while improving visibility and control across multiple AWS environments.
- Resilient Compute and Containerized Application Managemen: AppSquadz established a structured operating model for EC2 and Amazon EKS environments, ensuring cluster health monitoring, resource optimization, and workload stability. Elastic Load Balancers were configured to intelligently distribute traffic across application nodes, while Amazon Route 53 ensured reliable DNS routing. Persistent storage requirements were managed using Amazon EFS and Amazon S3 to maintain durability and scalability. Continuous monitoring via Amazon CloudWatch enabled proactive detection of performance anomalies.
- Integrated Security, Compliance, and Threat Monitoring Framework: A multi-layered security model was implemented leveraging AWS IAM for access governance, AWS KMS for encryption management, and AWS Secrets Manager for secure credential storage. Network protections were enhanced using Amazon VPC controls and AWS WAF for application-layer security. Continuous monitoring was enabled through AWS GuardDuty and AWS Inspector to detect vulnerabilities and suspicious activities. AWS Config and AWS CloudTrail provided centralized configuration tracking and audit logging to strengthen governance and compliance posture.
- Data Integration Optimization and Cost Governance: AppSquadz optimized data workflows using AWS Glue for data processing and AWS DMS for controlled database migrations and replication tasks. API Gateway enabled secure and scalable service integrations for marketplace interactions. Messaging services such as Amazon SNS and SQS were monitored to ensure reliable asynchronous communication between services. Cost visibility was enhanced through AWS Cost Explorer and detailed usage analysis, enabling right-sizing decisions and improved financial governance across compute, storage, and data transfer resources.
Project Overview
Mjunction partnered with AppSquadz to deliver a comprehensive AWS Managed Services engagement covering cloud hosting, operations, security, governance, and cost optimization. The engagement was structured as a long-term managed services contract spanning multiple AWS accounts and environments. AppSquadz assumed end-to-end responsibility for operating and managing Mjunction’s AWS environments using AWS-native services and best practices, ensuring continuous availability, proactive monitoring, security compliance, and ongoing optimization. This partnership provided Mjunction with a reliable and scalable AWS foundation while enabling internal teams to focus on core business innovation.
Technologies Used

Results
The Mjunction platform transformation delivered a highly secure, scalable, and operationally efficient cloud environment that optimized infrastructure usage, enhanced system reliability, and improved overall business continuity.
- Structured management of Amazon EKS clusters, EC2 workloads, and Elastic Load Balancing configurations contributed to sustained high availability for marketplace applications. Proactive monitoring using CloudWatch reduced unplanned downtime and improved operational responsiveness during peak transaction periods.
- The implementation of GuardDuty, Inspector, Config, and CloudTrail significantly strengthened security visibility and governance maturity. Centralized logging and encryption controls improved audit traceability, reduced compliance risk, and enhanced protection of sensitive marketplace data.
- Improved monitoring of Kubernetes resources, EC2 instances, storage layers (EFS and S3), and data services enabled better resource utilization. Cost Explorer insights supported ongoing optimization efforts, resulting in improved cost predictability while maintaining performance and scalability for growing marketplace operations.
Lessons Learned
During the engagement, AppSquadz identified several key learnings that improved long-term operational efficiency and governance for multi-account cloud environments:
- Early Standardization Reduces Complexity: Establishing governance standards and consistent controls from the beginning helped reduce operational overhead and minimized configuration drift across multiple AWS accounts.
- Service-Focused Monitoring Improves Incident Handling Designing alerts around service behavior and availability indicators — rather than only infrastructure thresholds — enabled earlier issue detection and faster troubleshooting.
- Centralized Visibility Enhances Operational Efficiency: Consolidated monitoring and logging improved signal-to-noise ratio, allowing operations teams to respond more effectively to production issues.
- Cost Optimization Must Be Continuous: Regular cost review cycles, right-sizing, and lifecycle management proved more effective than one-time optimization efforts, ensuring predictable spending over time.
- Structured Operations Enable Scalable Growth: A predictable operating model supported smoother platform expansion and consistent operational outcomes across environments.
